This December the permit renews for Tony and once again, all of his advocates have a strange feeling, it will renew. The State of Louisiana has a funny way of going about business. Regardless of all the laws in place to protect our endangered species, this one man Michael Sandlin, has an entire STATE, imagine, making little "gives" in their law to this day and trying to find ways to placate the owner so he can keep Tony to better his life not the life of the Tiger.
This is a travesty and I hope all the people that are elected in that State cant sleep. IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF TONYS SOLUTION, YOU ARE PART OF HIS PROBLEM, IF YOU CANT HELP TONY THEN STAY LOCKED BEHIND YOUR WOODEN DOOR AND COLLECT YOUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CHECK WHILE A TIGER LANQUISHES, WE ALL ANSWER TO SOMEONE. FOR SOME, NOT SOON ENOUGH.
Tony is a 12 year old Siberian/Bengal tiger used as a roadside attraction at Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete Louisiana. Tony’s owner, Michael Sandlin bought, sold, bred, and exhibited tigers for over 20 years. In 2003, because of violations Mr. Sandlin and the USDA made an agreement {after Sandlin threatened a lawsuit} where 3 of the 4 tigers he owned, Toby, Khan and Rainbow, were sent to Tiger Haven in Kingston TN. The USDA reduced the fines and allowed Mr. Sandlin to keep one tiger, Tony.
