Julia Breaux Melancon is the Louisiana State Director for HSUS, responsible for all legislative activities in that state.

During her time at HSUS, she has overseen pet shop raids, disaster responses, animal shelter management, and state and federal lobbying activities. In 2007, she campaigned to pass a ban on cockfighting in Louisiana.

I (Sky Williamson) spoke with Ms. Melancon on the phone January 2, 2009 and she said “I will forward the information that you gave me to someone I know that has been involved in this from the beginning.”

I never heard back from anyone nor did I ever hear back from her.

Questions you may want to consider asking her in writing or on the phone:

Who is the person that you know that “has been involved with the truck stop tigers” from the beginning?

Why did you never get that person involved when it was in all the newspapers and on the news?

Considering your position as the Louisiana State Director for HSUS why did you choose to never get involved?

Why did you choose to not speak up for and fight for Tony’s freedom?

Why did you choose to not go to any of the council meetings that you were well aware of?

Why is there nothing ever posted on your page about Tony the tiger or on the HSUS web page in Washington DC?

Why has the HSUS never got involved in the display of animal cruelty at Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete?

The HSUS is well known, is a huge organization therefore has the resources that could end Tony’s daily misery; they have attorneys that could have fought for Tony and the financial backing to make things happen.

We have three months and only three months to find a way to stop LDWF from renewing Michael Sandlin’s state permit. Don’t you wonder why Julia Breaux Melancon – Louisiana State Director for HSUS is choosing not to be involved in trying to save Tony and get him to a humane sanctuary?
